About the event

Special seafood bowl is included!

Buri and Hamachi are actually the same species — so why do they have different names?

In this session of Ask Takuya, we explore Japan’s unique fish-naming culture, where the name of a fish can change depending on its size, age, and even the region.

Takuya will explain how these naming traditions developed, what they mean for quality and seasonality, and why understanding them adds depth to how we enjoy seafood.

This session offers a glimpse into the rich cultural side of Japanese fish — beyond just taste.
